SONGS FOR THE ANCESTORS

SONGS FOR THE ANCESTORS: A journey down the songlines sending love to those who came before us with SOMATIC VOICE AND MOVEMENT MEDICINE® open evening Friday 14 March, Weekend workshop Saturday 15-16 March 2025 with YASIA.

  • Would you like to be more connected to your authentic Voice? Friday offers a safe and fun space to explore your voice.

  • For our weekend together - Learn how to trust your own sound and song as a simple act of honouring and celebrating your lineages and the health within them can uplift and empower you and your relationships.

  • Explore how the intention of sending thanks through sound, can strengthen and embolden your voice.

  • Experience the joy of meeting and inviting in your inner musician (we all have one!) to offer sound and song in honour of those who came before.

This weekend is to create more connection with those who have walked this earth before us, to honour and celebrate our lineages, and all the strength and nourishment that comes from giving thanks to those who came before. To remember what is is to be part of the community of life, and the support, holding and belonging that comes with that.

Open evening on Friday 14 March, offers you an open evening working specially with somatic voice practices, to explore your authentic voice. Voicework is a way of gently opening and welcoming the power of your voice. This is an evening of working with the natural voice, practices to support and open your voice in a playful, non judgemental and welcoming environment. Expect simple guided exercises in voice and sound, with some guided movement to support and open the voice, plus some group singing together. No voicework or singing experience needed.

Followed by SONGS FOR THE ANCESTORS, the weekend workshop Saturday 15-Sunday 16 March, a space to Honour and Celebrate, Sing and Dance for our Ancestors through Movement Medicine and Somatic Voice.

You can do both or either events. No singing or dancing experience needed

When we honour our lineages, we allow a reconnection through joy and celebration that both nourishes those gone before us and nourishes us in our present. Offering singing can create strong healing, though this is not about trying to work directly with the past traumas of our Ancestors, or the Ancestors who are struggling, but to reconnect with and call on the health of our lineages. It is not to ignore the reality of what they may have suffered but to call on the health that also exists. This in turn allows healing to ripple out to where there has been harm. This practice creates its own healing field.

If you want to develop and expand your sense of your belongingness, and deep connection to life itself, this way of honouring our lineages is hugely healing and empowering. There is so much strength in acknowledging and celebrating the wealth of wisdom, creativity and goodness at your back. This work can both deepen your relationship to your voice, your expression and confidence in the world, and be profoundly healing, by honouring the reality that we are our Ancestors wildest dreams and they and their dreams can be acknowledged and honoured as a vital part of our present.

Voicework is a way of opening and unlocking the power of your voice. It is a non-judgmental approach to the voice and not about ‘singing in tune’ or making a ‘nice sound’ although nice sounds do occur! It’s more about receiving and welcoming your true authentic voice, letting go of the shame, fear and judgement that can often hold us back in fuller expression of Self on all levels.

Movement Medicine is a movement practice, and a synthesis of shamanic, therapeutic and devotional pathways. Movement Medicine provides a contemporary map to support, deepen and enrich your dance both on the dance floor and through life.

We will be working with Voicework exercises and Movement Medicine. We will explore and celebrate the Power of Sound, Song and Dance as living embodied blessings for ourselves and those who’ve gone before. Move and sound your passion, your love for Life, bless your Lineages with your voice and movement and find the fullest expression of yourself.

Some movement and voice will be accompanied by digital music, other parts of the course will be raw sound and movement, acoustic style, we will be the music makers! All of the above will be done within the context of simple movement medicine and somatic voicework techniques developed by Yasia, during 15 years of Vociework practice that will be introduced over the weekend.
