Biography

Yasia is a Singer and leader of safe spaces for Singing and Vocal Expression for the last 15 years. She has been developing Voicework with a Somatic approach since she begin her journey with Voice, she has taken this work into St Patricks Hospital, Dublin, offering regular voice movement groups for people recovering from mental illness, she runs voice movement groups for the general public in UK, Ireland, Europe and Asia, and has been offering a one to one voice practise for individuals, for the past 10 years.

Voice and Movement

Yasia has trained extensively with voice and dance, apprenticing with pioneering teachers such as Susannah and Ya'Acov Darling Khan and The School of Movement Medicine as a Faculty Teacher, Rowan Saille, Wendy Bell and Nikki Slade’s Voice Facilitation program, Adrienne Thomas at ‘The Voice Project’, to name a few. Yasia has a life long dance practice and voicework the missing part of the puzzle. Her voicework journey began in her early 20s where she had a profound experience of sound and hasn’t stopped ever since!

Her movement and voice training spans over the last 25 years. Yasia has also worked extensively with children and teens, working for visionary programs such as Power2. More recently with adults in addiction recovery, mental health issues  and currently runs a voicework practise for adults, alongside her group work.

Chanting

Yasia is also leader of call and response chanting, inspired by traditional Kirtan. She is one of the founding members of Bhakti Festival Dublin, a yearly chanting festival, raising much needed funds for both Irish and Indian charities, lead by a diverse mix of musicians.

Yasia lives in Ireland with her husband David Mooney who is a pioneer of drug and alcohol free events in Ireland and a Faculty teacher of The School of Movement Medicine - www.embodiment.ie. David and Yasia teach together, teaching the Movement Medicine Apprenticeship program, a year long closed group journey exploring your vision for your life.
